Programs
How our skilling and livelihood programme takes a young person from first conversation to first job.
Skilling & Livelihood Programme
Creating jobs, transforming lives.
Our skilling and livelihood programme is designed for young people from low-income and underserved communities. It builds confidence, workplace skills and practical training, so that a young person can earn a living and lift their family with them.
We start from a simple belief: every individual has potential, and most have never been given the room to find it. The programme helps each young person understand their own strengths, make informed choices about their future and take the next step towards it.
Who the programme is for
- Young people from low-income households
- Young women who want to earn and become independent
- School leavers and those who could not continue their education
- First-time job seekers with no work experience
How the programme works
Five stages, each building on the one before.
Stage 1
Outreach
We begin in the community: home visits, conversations with local leaders and, over time, referrals from young people who have been through the programme themselves.
Stage 2
Foundation course
A first course that builds self-awareness, communication and confidence before any job training starts.
Stage 3
Counselling
One-to-one guidance that helps each young person match their interests and circumstances to a realistic career path.
Stage 4
Vocational skilling
Practical, job-ready training in a chosen trade, taught through a mix of classroom and online learning.
Stage 5
Placement
Introductions to employers, interview preparation and support through the first months of work.
What makes the programme different
Built around young people
The design starts from what young people tell us. We aim for a long-term relationship based on trust, respect and listening.
A dedicated place to learn
Welcoming rooms for the foundation course, for private counselling and for hands-on vocational training.
Collective action
Depth comes from the programme itself. Reach comes from working together with government, companies and community organisations.
Culture and values
Empowerment, inclusion, integrity, collaboration and sustainability, shown by our team in how they work every day.
Community by community
We track enrolment, training and placement for each community we work in, so we can see where change is taking hold.
Technology that helps
Digital tools support both learning and administration, and every learner builds the digital skills that jobs now expect.
